These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern the relationship between Alma Studio Tattooing Ltd ("Alma Studio", "we", "us" or "our"), a company registered in England and Wales with its registered office at 49-50 North Street, Brighton and Hove BN1 1RH, and you as a visitor, client or customer ("you"). By booking an appointment, placing an order or otherwise using our services, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms.
1. About our services
Alma Studio provides tattoo, body piercing, tooth gem, aesthetic and skin wellness services at our Brighton studio, and sells related products, gift vouchers, event tickets and flash designs through this website. Aesthetic and wellness treatments are booked separately via our Fresha page.
Our tattoo studio is licensed by Brighton & Hove City Council under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 for tattooing, skin piercing, semi-permanent make-up and electrolysis where applicable.
2. Eligibility, age and consent
- Tattoos. We do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18 under any circumstances (Tattooing of Minors Act 1969). Photographic ID is required on the day of your appointment. Appointments booked by or for a minor will be cancelled and any deposit forfeited.
- Body piercings. We will pierce those aged 16 and over without parental consent for ear-lobe piercings and a limited set of above-neck piercings. Persons under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who attends in person and signs the consent form. Certain intimate and genital piercings are only offered to adults aged 18 and over.
- Aesthetic treatments. Injectable, advanced skin and wellness treatments are offered to adults aged 18 and over, subject to practitioner consultation and medical suitability.
- Consent and medical questionnaire. Before any procedure we will ask you to complete a consent form and a short medical questionnaire. You must answer truthfully. We reserve the right to refuse or reschedule a procedure if we believe it is unsafe or inadvisable (for example because of pregnancy, recent illness, certain medications, skin conditions or intoxication).
- Intoxication. We will not provide services to anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs. Deposits will be forfeited.
3. Consultations, quotes and design
For larger or custom tattoo work we may invite you to an in-person or virtual consultation. Price quotes given at consultation are estimates — final pricing may vary based on scale, complexity and time needed. Custom artwork remains our artist's intellectual property until paid for in full; we retain the right to photograph and display our work in portfolios, website galleries and social media unless you request otherwise in writing.
4. Deposits, bookings and cancellations
- A non-refundable deposit may be required to secure your appointment. The deposit is applied against the final cost of the booked procedure.
- Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred once to a rescheduled appointment if you give us at least 48 hours' notice. Late cancellation or no-show will forfeit the deposit, and a new deposit will be required to rebook.
- Repeated rescheduling (more than two changes) will forfeit the deposit and require a new booking.
- Arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in your appointment being cancelled at our discretion, with deposit forfeited.
- If we need to cancel your appointment, we will reschedule at no cost and refund the deposit if a suitable alternative cannot be agreed.
5. Aftercare and results
We will provide written aftercare instructions at the end of your procedure. Following them is essential for safe healing and the longevity of your work. We are not responsible for:
- poor healing caused by failure to follow aftercare instructions;
- touch-ups required because of environmental factors, sun damage, skin conditions or failure to protect the area;
- natural variation in healing, fading or settling of tattoos, cosmetic tattoos and piercings over time.
One free minor touch-up on a tattoo is typically offered within 3 months of the original appointment, at the artist's discretion, provided the aftercare was followed. Travel, parking, and time off work to attend a touch-up are not reimbursed.
6. Photography and intellectual property
Our artists may photograph their work before and after the procedure for portfolio, marketing and social-media purposes. If you do not want your work photographed or published, tell your artist before the appointment begins. We will never publish identifying information without your consent.
All designs, flash sheets, photographs, website content and branding belong to Alma Studio or the individual artist who created them. You may not reproduce, copy or tattoo our designs elsewhere without written permission.
7. Online shop
When you place an order through our online shop, the following consumer protection terms apply in addition to the general terms:
- Contract formation. A contract of sale is formed when we email you confirmation that your order has been accepted and paid. Until that point we may refuse an order at our discretion.
- Prices. All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Shipping is calculated at checkout.
- Payment. We accept payment via the cards and wallets supported by Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe and never stored on our servers.
- Stock. Items are subject to availability. If a product becomes unavailable after ordering we will refund you in full.
- Delivery. UK delivery is provided via Royal Mail and normally arrives within 2–4 working days of dispatch. We dispatch within 2 working days of receiving your order. Risk passes to you on delivery; title passes when we receive cleared payment.
- Collect in studio. If you choose to collect, we will email you when the order is ready. Uncollected orders are held for 60 days before being cancelled and refunded minus any restocking cost.
- Right to cancel (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). If you order as a consumer, you have the right to cancel an order for physical goods within 14 days of receiving them, without giving a reason, by emailing info@alma-studio.uk. You must return the goods unused, in their original condition and packaging, within a further 14 days at your cost. We will refund the price and standard outbound shipping within 14 days of receiving the goods back.
- Exceptions to the right to cancel. The right to cancel does not apply to personalised items, hygiene-sealed piercing jewellery that has been unsealed, gift vouchers once redeemed or partially redeemed, digital content once download has begun, or event tickets where the event has already taken place.
- Faulty or mis-described goods. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected. If goods are faulty or not as described, contact us within 30 days and we will offer a replacement or full refund.
8. Event tickets
Tickets for flash days, workshops and studio events are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled by us. Tickets are issued electronically and must be presented on arrival. Capacity is limited — sold-out events may operate a short standby list at the door. The event promoter reserves the right to remove anyone behaving unsafely or inappropriately, without refund.
9. Flash designs
Flash designs are one-off artworks available on a first-come, first-served basis. Purchase of a flash design reserves that specific artwork for you to be tattooed by the artist who drew it. Once claimed, the design is removed from sale and is not tattooed on anyone else. The purchase price covers the design reservation only — the tattoo appointment itself is arranged separately and may be charged additionally at the artist's rate, which will be confirmed at the time of purchase.
10. Gift vouchers
- Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated.
- Vouchers are redeemable against any service or product offered by Alma Studio but may not be exchanged for cash.
- Vouchers must be presented (digital or printed copy of the voucher code) at the time of booking or payment to be applied.
- Lost or forgotten voucher codes can be resent by contacting info@alma-studio.uk with the purchaser's details.
- Expired vouchers will not be honoured after 12 months; we recommend booking in good time.
11. Discount codes and promotions
Discount codes are non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are subject to the specific terms displayed when the promotion is issued (minimum spend, valid date range, maximum uses, eligible products). Only one discount code may be applied per order unless we state otherwise. We reserve the right to withdraw or modify promotions at any time.
12. Behaviour on the premises
We maintain a safe and respectful studio. Harassment, discrimination, abuse, or aggression towards our staff or other clients will not be tolerated — we reserve the right to ask you to leave and to refuse future bookings, without refund. Children not being tattooed or pierced must be supervised at all times. Pets are not allowed in the studio other than registered assistance animals.
13. Liability
We carry appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.
Subject to the above, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with our services or online orders is limited to the greater of (a) the total price you paid for the service or order that is the subject of the claim and (b) £500. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or purely economic loss.
14. Website use
You may use this website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not scrape, copy, republish or use our content, photographs, artist imagery or branding without written permission. We reserve the right to block access to anyone who abuses our forms, attempts to compromise the site, or uses it in a way that breaches applicable law.
15. Complaints
We take complaints seriously. Please email info@alma-studio.uk with the details and we will acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, consumer-to-business disputes for goods and services may be taken to an alternative dispute resolution provider, or to the small claims court.
16. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your personal data. By using our services you acknowledge you have read it.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the current version. The Terms in force at the time you book or place an order apply to that booking or order.
